Count your many blessings

I was recently watching a program about the author, Randy Pausch, of The Last Lecture. He died recently of cancer and one of the news programs had followed him through his battle. He was amazing and after watching the program I really want to read the book (it's out at the library). Apparently, even though he gave this last lecture at the college he was teaching at in front of students and colleagues it is supposed to be the things he wants his children to know. So, in the program they show him tucking his kids into bed at night and he asks them "Tell me the best part of your day". Honestly, by the time I get through books, jammas, teeth, scriptures and a busy day I'm ready to shut the door and run for a moment of quiet before I pass out, usually on the couch. But last night I decided to take a moment to ask my littlest ones this question.

Sage, "Austin is my best friend"

Abby, "When I fell down on the playground and a boy helped me get up"

William, "When you came home from school early to tuck us in"

Wow! What was the best part of my day? You got it right there!

Being a "single mom" right now is tough, I won't lie. When I take a second to remind myself what really is important, I feel blessed to be here with 4.5 crazy monkeys and the chaos that comes with them. Rather than 1300 miles away in a strange home, alone. Love ya honey!

I saw that Dateline or whatever it was on Randy Pausch. It was amazing! I think we should read his book for the Book Club. He is an incredible person!

That William is so sweet. You've got great kids. And think Ann is right on about the book for book club.
